Oakland is seeking to identify web-based solutions to break down cumbersome bureaucratic processes and emerge with better systems that will help cut costs, increase efficiency, and provide better service to the public related to procurement and contracting processes and FOIA requests. The CfA project will work on creating new technology solutions to manage these processes and requests and will also help move forward Oakland’s goal of a more open, streamlined, efficient, and accountable government.

Goal: improve and streamline outdated procurement, contracting and FOIA request systems

Key Outcomes:

  • enhanced and expedited procurement and contracting processes
  • savings in staff time and costs related to procurement, contracting, and FOIA request fulfillment
  • improved services for those who want to do business with Oakland
  • enhanced Open Government initiatives at city level
  • increased skills and knowledge of technological solutions for city systems and services among staff and stakeholders
  • expanded opportunities for citizen engagement and access to government
