San Mateo CountyThe San Mateo County Human Services Agency will work with Code for America fellows to create technology tools that provide new systems of access to local food services programs for underserved, eligible residents.  The project will increase public awareness and understanding of available services, provide an easy-to-use and centralized point of entry to food systems resources and benefits, and help increase coordination between public and non-profit food services providers and agencies.

Goal: increase access to food benefits and services for eligible San Mateo County residents

Key Outcomes:

  • increased enrollment in the federal SNAP and Cal-Fresh programs
  • streamlined access to county free and reduced cost food options
  • enhanced coordination between food providers and the public about the services available and how to access them (free and reduced school lunch and Cal Fresh, senior meals on wheels, congregational food pantries, etc.)
