If you’re a developer, designer, or product manager with a proven track record and a desire to help fix your country, we want to hear from you.

In spring 2010, Code for America will begin recruiting our 2011 fellows. We are looking for web professionals with the proven skills to design, build and deploy web applications.  No government experience is necessary; our criteria are talent, passion, maturity, and a desire to make an impact.

Fellows must commit to working with Code for America full-time January though November 2011. In exchange, fellows will receive a living wage stipend, travel expenses, a crash course in municipal government, and unparalleled networking, mentoring, and support throughout the year.

Why become a fellow?

The CFA program is fundamentally about having a positive impact on the direction of our country, using your most valuable skills.  CFA makes it possible for talented web professionals to improve the efficiency and transparency of city governments without committing to a career in public service.  When fellows complete the program, they will leave behind not only a web application that will help their city, and all cities, run more efficiently, they will have also made a lasting change on the culture and thinking of the municipal employees they worked with.

In addition to the legacy they’ll leave, fellows will benefit from connections to an elite network of leaders during their year of service.  CFA mentors, committee members, and faculty are drawn from the biggest names in the web industry and the gov 2.0 movement.  Between the unique experience they’ll gain and the network of connections they’ll develop, CFA fellows will be positioned to move on to any number of leadership roles, whether entrepreneurial, service-oriented, or a combination of the two.

Who should apply?

Both mid-career professionals with a proven track record and younger web talent are encouraged to apply.  More about the application process will be available by March 1st.

June 1: Application form for fellows available
July 15: Deadline for fellow applications
August 15: First round of applicants notified, interviews begin
October 1: Final decisions on fellows announced
October 15: Deadline for fellows to commit to the program
