Keeping up with your city council can at times be difficult with all of the issues addressed and bills proposed, and for many, only a fraction of the activity is relevant to them — either be- cause of topic or location. CouncilMatic makes accessing Philadelphia legislative data as easy as checking your email or reading a blog.

Before a bill can be enacted by Council, it must be referred by the President of Council to an appropriate standing committee of Council, considered at a public hearing and public meeting, reported out by the committee, printed as reported by the committee, distributed to the members of Council, and made available to the public.

What We Need Now

This project needs the support and contributions from various skill types:

Designers: We want an application that's easy on the eyes. Just as the site content can work to demystify legislation, the design should work to make it approachable.

UX and Front-end Developers: We want a smooth and sensible user experience as we go beyond simply providing a subscription service.

Server-side Developers: We're building the application on Django, so if you have experience (or have always wanted some) that would be great.

People interested in law, policy, and puclicly accessible information: Subscribe! Report bugs and request features. Eventually we will need you to help demystify and build context around the legislation.
