Announcing Code for America Summit 2024
Emerging technologies are reshaping every aspect of our lives. Evolutions in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and digital experiences are making technology a part of everything we do now, including government services. These innovations have enormous potential to unlock new ways for government to meet people’s needs at scale—but we must ensure the technology is used mindfully. How can we meet this moment prepared to build and leverage technology in a way that advances equity and serves all people with dignity and respect?
That’s the question we’ve been wrestling with as we think about Code for America Summit 2024. The theme for our next Summit will be: Building a new digital age that works for all.
From May 28–30, 2023, we’re excited to welcome the civic tech and government innovation community to Oakland, CA, for three days of connection, inspiration, and problem-solving. Together, we’ll explore how to make our systems work better for everyone in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
Every year, Summit provides a space for government changemakers, community organizers, civic technologists, researchers, and more to come together and learn from one another. This year, we’ll kick off Summit with one day of workshops on Tuesday, May 28, followed by two days of mainstage and session programming on May 29 and 30.

Registration for Summit will launch in early 2024, and you can follow along on our Summit website for event updates and content previews as the time for Summit draws closer. Our Summit content—including lightning talks, panels, and breakout sessions—are sorted into tracks, and for the first time this year, we’re adding an Emerging Technology + Innovation track that will focus on leveraging the latest technological advancements to build more equitable and efficient public services.
If you want to be a part of the knowledge sharing that makes Summit so special, consider submitting a proposal for a breakout session, lightning talk, or webinar during our open call happening November 3–14, 2023. What makes Summit so special is the people, and we’d love to hear your voice!
No matter where you’re coming to Summit from—a county government office, a nonprofit field site, a university, a sticky-note-covered tech headquarters, or your favorite work from home coffeeshop—we’re excited to welcome you (or welcome you back!) to Summit.
