Em Barnard-Shao

Em Barnard-Shao is a Software Engineer at Code for America, working on the GetCalFresh team. Prior to joining Code for America, Em worked at RLabs, a nonprofit organization in Cape Town, South Africa, tackling high-unemployment rates in under-resourced communities, and Red Ventures on the deregulated-energy team. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she developed research software to test the effectiveness of interactive-educational tools for ESL students.
