Code for America CEO Amanda Renteria Named to Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity

We’re pleased to announce that Code for America CEO Amanda Renteria will serve on the inaugural Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity (TACRE). The committee will focus on efforts to advance economic racial equity and address topics related to financial inclusion, access to capital, housing stability, federal supplier diversity, and economic development. 

“Code for America believes all families should be able to access the tax benefits they are due, which is why we are focused on closing the tax benefit gap. I’m thrilled to join the Advisory Committee and share Code for America’s successful proof of concept for accessing flexible cash and tax benefits in order to advance racial equity, lift people out of poverty, and create economic opportunity for those who have been historically marginalized,” Amanda said regarding the announcement. 

Members of the committee bring expertise in academia, advocacy, financial services, and local government and will serve two-year terms. The committee will report to U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo. It will be chaired by Michael Nutter, the former Mayor of Philadelphia and the David N. Dinkins Professor of Professional Practice in Urban and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Separately, President Biden also announced his intent to appoint Amanda to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics.
