Amelia Hoover Green

  • Staff Quantitative Researcher, Code for America

Amelia Hoover Green (she/her) joins Code for America from Drexel University, where she was a tenured Associate Professor of Politics. At Drexel she taught quantitative and qualitative research methods, comparative politics, and upper level courses on political violence. Her 2018 book The Commander’s Dilemma (Cornell) examined how armed groups can (and occasionally do) limit violence against civilians. She also served for two years as Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, building both programming and analytics to support justice efforts at the university. Most recently, she has worked on simulation approaches to understanding measurement error. Amelia lives in Philadelphia (West Philly: hands-down the Best Philly) with her family. She enjoys singing, hiking with her grumpy old dog, Watson, and the unfettered chaos of little-kid tee-ball. A North Dakota native, she asks that you not discuss Twins baseball with her until next season.
